FAQ
What's the mission of Nachofoto?
To help people find the most "relevant" & "recent" images on the internet for the most popular search queries.
How do you define "most popular search queries"?
They are the set of search queries made by millions of users over a short time interval.
You can find them at Google Insights for Image Search, Google Trends(hot topics and hot searches) , Yahoo Buzz or AOL Hot Searches
Is Nachofoto an alternative to Google,Yahoo or Bing image search engines?
Not at all. We perceive ourselves as a complement to these image search engines.
These image search engines lack good results for "most popular search queries" defined above.
How is Nachofoto different than existing image search engines?
Check out our 'iPad' and 'earthquake' case study. For more examples, check out the "Classification of Image Search queries" section of our White Paper
Why can't i see good results for keywords like 'heart', 'wall', 'golden gate bridge', 'niagara falls', 'burrito',
'periodic table' etc?
These are "static keywords" whose meaning and their images do not undergo any significant change with time.New images published on the web for these queries are almost same as the old ones. Existing image search engines have done exceptionally well for these keywords.
Nachofoto's focus is on dynamic keywords whose images undergo significant change with time.
